RECIPE: Homemade Chai & Rosemary Lavender Shortbread

October 1, 2018

Fall is my favorite. I am all about pumpkin spice the first day of September. I bust out the flannels and boots and scan the ground for those first crunchy leaves. I know it’s not for everyone, but every year, I am ready for it. #TSwift. And, as autumn rolls in, out comes the baker … More RECIPE: Homemade Chai & Rosemary Lavender Shortbread

Meet Jillian

I’m a self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur who loves photography, writing, and traveling everywhere with my sweet husband. A blog, quite frankly, was inevitable.

sometimes I am so filled with words and have no way to say them. I think it happens most often when I see others in pain. my heart aches and I want nothing more than to speak truth, to tell them I am here with them and it will get better in time and it’s okay to feel how they do. and then I remember how those words have been cheapened with insincerity. so I watch them quietly and feel with them and they have no way of knowing. words are powerful if you mean them or if you don’t. they are like fragments of light piercing through ice on the coldest day. or, they are just like more ice.
hi, my name is Jillian and I care too much about what people think of me. I take baths and drink green tea when I’m stressed, I’m way too hard on myself on a daily basis, and for the last year I have struggled profoundly with my faith. I do not claim to have all of the answers but I know I am loved despite flaws, sins, and brokenness; and I know you are, too. it’s easy for things to seem idyllic here and wanted to break the mold for a moment. happy Friday, friends; I am here for any and all of you 💛
I felt a little pang in my heart today as I realized it’s been two years since living in Iraq. It is such a beautiful place and an incredible testament to the fact that things are not always what people believe them to be. Yes, there was war and pain. More than that, there is hope and generosity and creativity and hospitality. I cannot speak enough to how this place and its people spoke to me and how it continues to change me, even today.
I love an excuse to post one of the most expensive pictures I own 😂 happiest Valentine’s Day, my love. You make the whole world brighter. I’d go anywhere with you 💛
paradise doesn’t have to be tropical, but I’d rather it not be covered in ice
just the excuse I needed to give self portraits a try. #snipsnip
2018 was the year of Australia. It was an incredible trip and I would HIGHLY recommend, but honestly? I felt a bit travel starved. It was the first year in many that I only made it to one new country. So... we’re making up for it by planning another multi-country excursion 😂 any guesses as to what’s on our list??
who’s afraid of a little sub-zero weather?... • • • • • ...it’s me. I am afraid. return me to Australia, please and thank you.
I write 8 hours a day for work, then compose blog posts and emails and social calendars for @travelsmithco on weekends. So when I sit in a coffee shop to work, it actually feels like self-care 😂 can you tell it’s hard for me to slow down?
